Chapter Five: The Call
Niall's POV
I gave the phone to Paul as we were leaving, and it was sitting on my bedside table when I woke up. There was no pass code on it either. He was fast. At first, I had wanted to immediately get on it, but then it felt like snooping in someone's business. Having thousands of people after my private information has given me a respect for others' privacy.
"Nialler, have you called the owner yet?" Harry asked walking into my hotel room, which I had carelessly left open.
"Er, not yet."
"Why? You're taking forever. That poor girl is probably getting punished big time for losing it. All you have to do to make it not happen is call. Just do it already."
"But it feels wrong to get on someone's personal phone."
"Niall, you asked Paul to hack into it. I think you've moved past the privacy thing."
"But that was different."
"Not really. Give it to me." Harry reached across the bed and plucked the iPhone from my hands. He took off running down the hallway clicking rapidly on the screen. If he broke it, then he could call and explain himself.
"Catch!" I saw it being flung in the air towards me. Shoot, it could break if I don't catch it. My not so athletic self managed to barely grab it before it smashed on the ground. It wasn't until I stood up that I realized why Harry had tossed it back at me. The phone was ringing on the other end.

Sawyer's POV
"Get up sleepy head."
"No."
"Come on Sawyer. I want to talk about last night."
"Ugh, I drove for like two hours. Can I please sleep?"
"Your pants are on fire." Chloe said nonchalantly. I giggled and sat up. The first time I'd slept over, Chloe had told me my pants had caught on fire, and I stupidly believed her. "Yay, that took a while. Thanks for driving back by the way."
"Thanks for taking me."
"No biggie. So, did you like it? Wasn't it awesome? They boys were so nice, don't you agree?"
"Slow it Chloe. One question at a time please." Whenever hope was excited about something or really nervous, she would start talking reallyfastlikethisandwouldn'tstop until you told her to.
"Sorry, I'm just so excited still. Ugh, that was just the best night of my life almost. I had a really nice one once when Josh took me to see the comets at the park."
"How romantic. I really enjoyed the concert. They did wonderfully. What did you think of the guys?"
"They were really nice. Harry looks like Josh. Anyone in particular stand out?"
"Not really. They were equally sweet."
"Come on Sawyer. Did you not notice when Niall left and got you his cardigan?"
"Um,"
"Halfway through the game you started shivering, so Niall got up and put his cardigan around your shoulders."
"Oh. That was nice."
"It wasn't just nice. I'd say he took a fancy to you."
"Or he just didn't want the band to be liable for a fan getting hypothermia."
"Be reasonable. He fancies you."
"Hypothermia is just as reasonable as him liking me. He's some big superstar. I'm just like one of billions of girl fans. I'm sure he does that to all the girl fans that get cold."
"Have you ever seen those funny YouTube videos like the childbirth prank with Nickelodeon? He just kind of sat there while Harry freaked out. I don't think he does it to just every girl."
"Whatever. Guess what happened though."
"What?"
"I lost my phone backstage."
"Oh I'm so sorry. If we hadn't been in such a rush, we could've found it."
"It's fine. I'm just letting you know before I tell me parents. There might not be a me left to tell you after I tell them." I joked.
"They can't get that angry if you've got like phone insurance or extended warrant. You can stay at mine until you get a new one." Chloe tried to cheer me up.
"Yeah, but I'm trying to get a car. Losing a phone doesn't show much responsibility." I explained. Chloe's attention was diverted at the sound of her ringtone.
"Sawyer, are you sure you lost your phone, because it's calling me right now."
"I'm sure."
"Should I answer?"
"Yes. Put it on speaker." I decided.
"Who is this and why do you have my friends phone? My mom is a judge and she can get you in jail for theft if I ask her." Chloe yelled into the phone.
"Er, this is Niall and I've, er, found your friend's phone."
Chloe's tone instantly changed. "Oh, Niall. I'm so sorry. I thought a complete wacko had gotten Sawyer's phone and was going to come murder us in our sleep."
"I understand. Is Sawyer around?"
"Hi Niall, thanks for finding my phone." I answered.
"No problem. I'm er guessing you want it back. Um I'm going to be in London for a little longer. We've got a concert tonight. Do you er want to meet tomorrow during lunch at the Rainforest Cafe? I know it's kind of cheesy, but it isn't crawling with paparazzi."
Chloe excitedly answered for me, "She will be there."
"Great, well I've probably got to go."
"Wait!", I yelled. "Can you do me a favor and text the contact mom? Tell her that I'm spending the night with Chloe again and the concert was great. Also, if she texts could you answer. She probably won't, but I don't want my parents to know I lost it. Thanks."
"Yeah, sure. No problem. Bye!" Niall hung up. Chloe turned her phone off and took a deep breath. I could tell she wanted to play fantasy.
"Go ahead."
"Oh my gosh, what if you guys got like married! You would be so cute together. Oh my goodness, it would be just like so cool. You could have like red headed babies that have super awesome voices and really high IQs. Or what if you went around the world doing charity things and won some Nobel peace prize."
"Chloe, I hate to break it to you, but just because a guy calls me doesn't mean I'm going to marry him."
"Yeah, but this was Niall Horan and he asked you to lunch."
"Yes, to return my phone though. He probably just wants an excuse to go eat there."
"He could go there anytime."
"But maybe it's awkward with just one person."
"No, have you not seen pictures of him. He's gone to the pub alone. Why would a cafe away from the paparazzi he any different? Plus if the paparazzi are gone, he probably wants to ask you out without them blinding you."
"Doubt it. I'm going to run home and grab my stuff." I got out of the king sized bed.
"Ok, what time will you be back?"
"Hour or so. I've got to shower, eat, and pack. Plus, Rob might be there. He will want to know about the concert."
"Ok, I'll be here." I walked out the door and across the street still in my pajamas. All the neighbors would be out at brunch by now.

When I got home, Rob was watching a movie, so I showered, packed, and ate before he came back up from downstairs.
"What's up Sawyer?" Rob squeezed me in an awkward hug.
"Not much, did you miss me?"
"Oh, it was so awful. I stayed up all night and cried. How was the concert?"
"It was really good. They played a ton of songs , and we didn't leave until eleven thirty."
"Whoa, I though it was supposed to end at like nine."
"Yeah, the concert did, but Chloe had backstage passes. We met the boys and played Apples to Apples."
"Cool. Where are you going with all those bags?" Rob pointed towards my duffel and backpack on the ground.
"Chloe's. I also kind of most my phone, so I'm staying at her house until I get it back."
"Uh, when would the be?"
"Tomorrow."
"Who found it?"
"Niall. He's perfectly safe."
"Should I be coming to this?"
"No, it's Niall Horan. He is a one direction hand member not a serial killer." Rob still looked dissatisfied. "I'm supposed to meet him for lunch tomorrow at the rainforest cafe. I'll text you as soon as I get it back."
"Fine, but now that I know where you're going I may just play stalk Sawyer."
"No!" I slapped him playfully on the back.
"Butt head."
"Meanie. I'm going back to Chloe's house."
"Bye."

Chapter 4: The Concert

Chapter 4: The Concert
I'm going to post a new chapter every Friday.

Sawyer's POV
Unfortunately, I slept way past my alarm to ten thirty. Chloe came in again through the backdoor and woke me up by pulling the covers back and dumping a pot of ice on me. The cool against my skin woke me up faster than caffeine. At first I found it funny, but then I changed my mind when I couldn't feel my fingers. Some of the ice melted before we got to it which made my bed damp. Gross, I was so not going to sleep on that tonight. Chloe felt bad and said I could sleep over at hers. While she surfed Tumblr, I took a shower and got dressed in some sweats and a tank top. Once my finished hair drying, Chloe said she was going to do something to it. I got breakfast and went back upstairs to find her in the same place.
"You seriously haven't moved since I got into the shower."
"Yeah, that's nice."
"Chloe, are you listening?" I grabbed the laptop from her.
"Sorry, I found a cool Tumblr and was trying to get to the very bottom of it."
"We can look at Tumblr later. My hair is still drying. When are we changing?"
Chloe looked at her watch. "It's eleven thirty now. Lets get dressed now. First, just blow dry your hair. It's too thick to finish air drying in time." Chloe said pulling out her clothes. I went back to the bathroom to dry my hair. When I got out, Chloe had a straightening iron plugged into the wall and was doing her hair. I changed into my outfit and let Chloe do my hair. After several failed attempts at a bohemian twist, Chloe put my untwistable locks into a regular braid. Makeup was rushed because my hair took so long. I put on mascara, eyeliner, a little blush, and peach lip gloss. Chloe was really good at this beauty and fashion stuff. She was able to pull off bright pink lipstick and make it look casual. I grabbed my phone right before we left . On the ride to the O2, we sang both One Direction albums. I recorded some of it on my iPhone. Later, we were going to put the videos together in our own summer video diaries.
"We're here. The restaurant is only five blocks away. Let's go eat." Chloe parked the car. For dinner I got a salad and fruit. Chloe got a veggie burger and fruit. Dinner didn't take as long as we had planned, so we went and got in line. There were still two hours and thirty minutes until show time and the line was already super long.
"Here." Chloe pulled something out of her purse and handed it to me. I looked quizzically at her. "Backstage passes. They came with the tickets I bought. I should probably give you that, too. We're in the front row."
"We're meeting them?"
"Yeah." Chloe said as if it was no big deal.
"Chloe, you didn't even tell me. Oh my gosh. I probably look awful. I should've picked something more formal." I said looking at my tank top, shorts, and converse ensemble. Chloe was wearing something similar. She had on shorts, a short sleeve shirt, and sandals.
"You look fine Sawyer. Just calm down. Don't say you look awful. I did your hair."
"Ok my hair looks nice, but the rest?"
"You're fine."
"So, when do we go back?"
"The end."
"How many other people will be there, too?"
"Just us unless Danielle or Eleanor go. Perrie is on tour or something."
"Why just us?"
"They only sell like four backstage passes. The other two we exchanged for a ten minute meet and greet before the show. Those girls must have figured the boys would be really energetic then or something. Going afterwards gives us something to talk about at least."
"I wonder why they traded. How long do we get to be back there for?"
"Well, normally parents are with their daughters, and they leave in ten minutes. We can just stay until it gets awkward or they kick us out." Chloe explained.
"What time will we be back?"
"It starts in an hour at seven and lasts until nine. We can be back home by twelve probably. I might get you to drive of I'm tired though, ok?"
"Sure. I should've offered, sorry."
"It's fine. I just stayed up late last night talking to Josh. My fault, not yours."
"Look, the line is moving." I pointed towards the front. Security had opened the gates and the process of getting in to the right seat began. Once in, I felt insignificant. There must have been a thousand seats and every single one of them would be filled. Chloe and I played words with friends until five minutes before. The screen had come up by then and the musicians were coming out onstage. A short introduction film played a minute before the boys came on. When they ran out, I thought my ears were going to burst by the amount of noise made at once. As the screaming died down a little, I could hear the first chords of Live While We're Young being played. Niall was on guitar for this song. When the song we finished. Liam welcomed everyone and the show proceeded. Chloe and I sang along to all the songs except the cover songs. We didn't quite know those. When the concert ended for real, Chloe grabbed my arm and kept me from leaving with the rest of the crowd. She pulled me to the side stage. We showed security our passes and they led us backstage.
"I'm pooped. Who wants to go on a McDonald's run with me?" Harry Styles asked.
"Me!" Niall Horan yelled.
"Backstage passers." One of the guards said. I recognized Paul who was siting next to Liam. Paul got up looking ready to tackle one of us if we fangirled.
"Hello loves. What are your names?" Louis got up from the couch to shake our hands.
"I'm Chloe."
"Er, Sawyer." I said nervously.
"Cool, I'm Louis. We probably don't need to really introduce ourselves though." The rest of the boys just stared at us.
Of goodness, I hope my shorts hadn't split or something. "Do you want a picture?" Louis asked.
"Sure." Chloe grabbed her phone and my phone and handed it to Paul.
"Come on lads." Louis commanded. They all jumped up at once still speechless. Paul took several pictures on both of our phones before handing them back.
"Sorry, we haven't seen people our age in like forever. We always get screaming fourteen year olds." Harry finally said.
"Yeah, how old are you?" Zayn asked.
"I'm eighteen and Sawyer is seventeen." Chloe answered.
"Come sit down." Liam gestured to the sofa. Chloe sat between Harry and Zayn. I continued to stand. There wasn't enough room on the sofa with Chloe, Harry, Zayn, and Liam. Louis had gone off to get food, but I didn't want to steal his chair.
"Take mine." Niall got up and gave me his seat.
"Thank you." I gave him a small smile.
"So how did you girls like the show?" Liam asked.
"It was so good. You guys did a lovely job." Chloe confidently praised them.
"Which song was your favourite?"
"Kiss You. What about you Sawyer?"
"I really liked They Don't Know About Us."
"I'm back." Louis had a bowl of m&ms in one hand and apples to apples in the other. "Do you girls want to play?"
Chloe and I exchanged looks before she answered.
"Oh my gosh, I won!" Chloe spread out the seven green apple cards she had collected.
"Ugh, I can't believe I lost. This is like my game." Harry moaned.
"Yeah, someone beat Harry!" Louis jumped up spilling the remaining m&ms all over the ground. Chloe giggled as Louis and Liam did a funny dance. Harry fake sobbed into his hands.
"Liam, Louis, Harry, Zayn, and Niall, we've got thirty minutes until we are ready to leave." Paul interrupted the festivities. Chloe glanced at her watch.
"Oh my goodness, Sawyer, we've got to go. It's already eleven forty." Chloe jumped up and grabbed my arm. A cardigan fell off my shoulders as I stood up.
"Thanks for having us."
"Bye!" Liam, Louis, and Harry said in unison.

Niall's POV
I tipped over on the seat and face planted into the cushion. I hadn't realized I'd been leaning so much on that girl. I got up from the cushion in time to see them running out the door. Dang it, I hadn't even gotten to ask the red head for her number. She was really cute.
"Niall, is this yours?" Harry passed me a phone, a white iPhone in a tribal print case to be exact. I know I had recently gotten an iPhone, but no way was that case mine.
"Seriously?" I handed it back to him.
"Don't give it to me. It's not mine. You should find the owner probably. iPhone fives are expensive. I can imagine the owner would be disappointed to be without it."
"Why don't you give it back?"
"Because I'll never remember to give it back."
"Fine." I took the phone and turned it on. Great, there was a pass code. I stuck it in my pocket and made a mental note to give it to Paul. He'd be able to get into it so I could reach the owner.

Sawyer's POV
I ended up driving us home in silence. Chloe fell asleep as soon as she sat down. The ride was pretty boring and I nearly got lost if it hadn't been for the built in GPS system. Besides being an awkward wallflower, I had lost my phone.

Chapter 3: Concert Preparations

Chapter 3: Concert Preparations
Besides our social differences, Chloe and I had a lot in common. We were both fans of One Direction, Coldplay, and Marina and the Diamonds. We also followed Once Upon a Time, Pretty Little Liars, Revenge, Grimm, X-factor, and The Vampire Diaries. On Saturday, Chloe woke me up really early and I got a tour of Harris Prep's campus as well as Starbucks coffee. By the beginning of July, we had throw over ten sleepovers and I'd met several of her family members and her boyfriend, Josh. We had practically become best friends in under a month. What a record for me.
"OH MY GOSH. Open up your door Sawyer." Chloe pounded on the front door. I got up from the kitchen bar and opened it which was probably a big mistake. Chloe had been leaning on the door and came tumbling down on me as soon as I opened it. "So sorry Sawyer, guess what I have." Chloe held up a pair of paper rectangles.
"Paper." She looked at it and turned them the other direction. "Tickets."
"Yes, to a One Direction concert! They are a late birthday present. The concert is Friday. I already asked your mom if you could come with me. She said yes.
"That's so kind of you to invite me."
"Well, why wouldn't I invite my best friend? Anyways, if the concert is on Friday we will need to go shopping on Wednesday, do pedicures and manicures on Thursday, and then drive there Friday."
"Got anything for tomorrow?" I asked sarcastically.
"Nope, I'm supposed to be meeting up with Josh though."
"Oh, so you don't want to hang out with me? I'm so hurt."
"You could like tag along. We're only going to see a movie."
"I'm kidding Chloe. Have fun on your date tomorrow. I'll be here hanging out with Rob. Tessa's going on a trip to Brighton with her parents and so he's free."
"Alright. I probably need to go back home. My mom gave me these right before dessert, and I ran here immediately."
"Oh, sorry for keeping you. See you Wednesday."
"Ok, bright and early too Sawyer. We've got to get as much shopping time in as possible." Chloe walked herself out. I still don't know why I try to walk Chloe out. She always seems to do it herself. Once when we had a sleepover, I woke up and she had already gone home. It was also kind of weird how early her family would eat dinner at. Five O'clock just seemed to early for my usual seven o'clock dinner.

Tuesday ended up being very boring. Rob had gotten home and went upstairs to pack his suitcase. Tessa had convinced her parents to let Rob come with them. They loved him like he was their own son. I don't really know why though. Rob was ok, but not as good as they make him seem. With Rob gone and no car, I was confined to anywhere within walking distance.

"Pst. Sawyer, time to get up." Chloe poked my cheek.
"Nooo." I mumbled. Wait, why was Chloe here? I sat upright in bed. Chloe's light brown eyes stared at me.
"I'm glad you're awake. I called late last night and told your parent's I was coming to get you at six. They said they'd wake you up so you could set your alarm, but obviously that message did not get to its recipient."
"How'd you even get in here?"
"The back door was unlocked. You should probably lock it you know."
"There's a gated fence back there. Only you would climb it." Chloe gave me a weak smile before throwing a wad of clothes at me. I went to the bathroom and changed into them. How long had she been in my room? The shirt was stuffed in the back of my closet I think. I changed quickly before we left, this time out the front door.
"Wait, I'm hungry."
"Sawyer, we don't have time to eat a breakfast at home if we want to be in London by seven thirty. We'll get food once we get to London."
"London?"
"I might have a boyfriend, but I still want to look nice for them. London's got the best clothes."
"Then, let's shop." We got the mall around eight after stopping to eat at the Riding House Café. Chloe was really taking this shopping trip seriously. We must have gone into every clothing store twice. In the end, she bought the first outfit she had tried on. I got my outfit in the second store. Though it took a long time, we had a great time just playing dress up. We finally left the mall at seven.
"Now are you going to wake me up at six to get mani-pedis?" I asked playfully.
"Of course not. We're going at five. The later we get them, the less time there is for them to mess up." Chloe explained.
"I see. What time will we be leaving Friday?"
"The concert doesn't start until seven. i say we leave at three. Get there at four and eat a really early dinner. Then, we'll head to the stadium to avoid the giant lines and whatnot."
"Sounds like a plan."
"I'm so excited. See you later." Chloe pulled into my driveway and let me out.

I slept like a rock on Wednesday night. Who knew shopping with Chloe could lead to eleven hours of deep sleeping? When I got downstairs, someone was sitting on the couch.
"Rob, what are you doing here?"
"I live here remember." he said sarcastically.
"I thought you were supposed to be off with Tessa in Brighton.
"Yeah, but it was getting really awkward. Tessa's parents would not stop asking me about school and what I'm going to be."
"So you just left?"
"No, I told them I forgot I had plans."
"And what would those plans be?"
"Hanging out with my little sis. What do you want to do today?"
"Can we got to King's College? I just want to see the campus."
"Sure. Let's go now. It's only an hour and a half away. If we leave in thirty minutes, we can get lunch, tour, and be back by three thirty. How does that sound?"
"Great, I'm eating breakfast before we go."
"Sure thing, I'll be in here if you need me."
I ate a bowl of cereal and changed into clothes. Rob was fun when could cold get him alone. Mom and Dad wouldn't really care if we left as long as we brought our phones. King's College had a beautiful campus. I met the dean which was fun and a bit scary. Thankfully Rob got me home just in time for Chloe to pick me up. Our trip to King's College lasted longer than expected, and we had gotten into traffic. I decided not to get my toes done since I'd be wearing shoes that covered them. Why pay fifteen extra dollars to get them done if nobody would see them?"
When we got back, Chloe made me promise to set my alarm for ten. Apparently she was coming so we could do hair and makeup.

Chapter 2: Dinner

Chapter 2: Dinner
Five days after arriving in High Wycombe, England, we finished moving into our new house. On Monday, Rob stopped thinking about Tessa for an hour, so I got him to of together my bed. The next day, we had gone to get our cars back and return the ugly, bulky moving van. As soon as Rob had been handed his keys, he backed out and headed off to surprise Tessa at her flat. I rode home with my mom as my dad had to go check something at Oxford. I also finished unpacking my room putting all the finishing touches on my space.
"Sawyer, run across the street to the Brinks and get some eggs for me." My mom yelled upstairs from the kitchen. I closed my laptop and put some shoes on before heading out the door. Was she socially allowed to ask for eggs from neighbors we barely know? When I got there, Chloe opened the door and let me in. She introduced me to her parents, Judge Miranda Brinks and Doctor Jason Brinks and then decided to give me a tour around her house and sent her mom to deliver the eggs.
"So this is my room." Chloe stepped out of my view to reveal a poster covered room. You could barely see the pink paint under all the various items she had pinned on her wall. It was like walking into a giant shadow box. There were movie poster on the right wall, music above her bed, pictures on the left, and awards on her dresser wall. Chloe had even managed to hot glue some seashells around her bed frame. The blue covers and opaque blue canopy gave her bed an islandish look in a sea of posters. Besides the messy walls, Chloe's room was pretty clean.
"I have that same poster." I pointed to the One Direction poster next to the seashells.
"Cool. I really like them. They're so cute and such great singers." Chloe sighed dreamily.
"Who would you date if you could?"
"Um, tough question. Plus, I have a boyfriend and he wouldn't be happy to find out someone was cuter than him."
"Oh, what's his name?" I asked intrigued. I walked over to the picture wall and began scanning them for any picture of them.
"Josh. He's a doll. If your looking for a picture the entire upper right corner is filled with them. We've been dating since ninth grade." the phone rang and Chloe went to get it. Josh wasn't bad looking, but I preferred blondes to brunettes. I was only halfway through the photos when Chloe got back. "My mom wants us to go back to your house. Your mom invited us to dinner."
"Alright, she was making spaghetti with meatballs, salad, and french bread. It should be done by like seven so in an hour. We can hang out at my house."
"Let's go." Chloe put some shoes on and grabbed her jacket and flashlight before locking her house up.
"Is your dad coming?" I asked looking at the Brinks dark house.
"He's already there. He must have snuck out while we were in the basement." The uphill walk took less than two minutes. It seemed like my mother managed to throw a small dinner party together in less than an hour. Classical music was playing lightly through the speaker system. My dad had gotten home and was talking to Dr. Brinks. Rob seemed to be MIA, probably still with Tessa. I gave the house tour just like Chloe had and saved my room for last. It was my space, so I naturally thought it was the best room in the house. When we got there, Chloe was interested in seeing my friends from back in Massachusetts. It took a long time to explain to her why I had no yearbooks or even a facebook. She seemed like a likable person who had thousands of facebook friends and tons of yearbook signatures; how someone didn't have friends was foreign to her. When she had finally grasped the concept, my mom called us down to eat, still no sign or Rob. Boy would he be in trouble.
"Sawyer, your mother was telling me that you enjoyed piano. Who's your favourite composer?" Judge Brinks asked starting the conversation. My mom turned her attention towards Chloe and began questioning her. I swear, if I hadn't told Chloe my mom's job, Chloe would have thought she was a detective with all the questions she drilled.
"Your honor, does Coldplay count? I don't really play classical. I like the more recent songs and some older ones as well."
"You don't have to call me that. Mrs. Brinks would be just fine. Chloe doesn't like our classical music either. Even when she was little and we were on car trips, she would pop her earbuds in and ignore the beauty of Bach and Beethoven. Are you looking at any colleges?"
"Well, my dad is at Oxford and Rob, my brother, will be at King's College this fall. I don't really know where I want to go, but I'll probably apply to those two schools."
"Chloe wants to be a child protective services agent."
"No I don't mom. I told you I hadn't decided yet. That was just a random job I said once." Chloe interrupted.
" Sawyer, are you also going to Harris Preparatory?"
"Yes mam'. I'm excited but nervous as well."
"It's a fine school. Chloe could take you on a tour one day."
"Alright." Dinner ended around eight thirty when Robert walked in dripping water on the hardwood floor. Mom sent him back outside with a towel. He came back in a minute having stripped and wrapped a towel around himself. I thought Mrs. Brinks was going to pass out in horror. Chloe was stunned and turned red. What an awkward end for a civil dinner party. Before leaving, Chloe asked her mom of I could spend the night Friday. Still stunned, Mrs. Brinks simply nodded her head.
